CareNet’s two-year, post-graduate Residency in Psychotherapy and Spirituality was specifically developed to train tomorrow’s mental health counselors, with an emphasis on the spiritual and religious dimensions of therapeutic practice. The overarching goal of our program is to equip each resident with the knowledge and clinical skills needed to provide care for others by engaging them biologically, psychologically, socially and spiritually.
Our Program’s Reach: Today, our residents offer spiritually-integrated mental health counseling to underserved individuals and families (people with Medicaid or no insurance at all) and in underserved regions of North Carolina, including many rural and low-income urban areas.
Our Program’s Impact: CareNet’s program graduates have the potential to make an immense difference in our region’s access to the life altering counseling services we offer.
Consider that….
The average age of a CareNet resident is 40 and that the average number of years each CareNet resident will spend in their lifetime as an active counselor is 25.
The Net Effect
25,000 – the average number of counseling hours each resident will provide over his or her professional lifetime
275,000 – the average number of counseling hours this year’s group of residents will provide over their professional lifetimes
5.5 million – the average number of counseling hours a gift to the residency program will ultimately help support over the next two decades
